Trestle Board December 2013

December 5th, 2013

From the Worshipful Master

Hello Brothers,

Believe it or not, my year as Master of Wayfarers is only days from being over. This trestle board post will be short, but filled with emotion (for me anyway). I want to use this space to acknowledge and thank all of you for making my experience a memorable one. I will surely miss the day-to-day commotion and the depth of fellowship that comes with the job. While having considerably more free time and less responsibility, I will always treasure the relationships that have been forged, the lessons learned and the immense love and respect I’ve grown to have of so many of you.

As I write this, I’m flooded with names that need to be mentioned and accolades that should be handed out. I won’t start down that path for several reasons. First, I know I would forget to mention someone or something and feel remorse forever over it. Second, I recognize that all of you put forth your efforts and resources for the good of Wayfarers and Masonry in general, not for some superficial recognition. Finally, our connections and relationships will continue and they will flourish because we will all continue to do what we do and be who we are. We’re Masons!

Thank you for all you’ve done and will do. Thank you all for the privilege of being your master. I can’t think of a higher honor than being allowed to serve such fine men and good friends.

Gratefully yours,

George Daggett
Worshipful Master

From the Senior Warden

Brethren,

First, I want to congratulate WB George Daggett for his term as WM. You have worked hard to leave the lodge better than you found it, and it is appreciated. It is again an honor to be elected to be your WM for the 2014 year. I also want to congratulate the other officers who have been chosen to take a leadership role in the progressive line. We have many intelligent and eager young men balanced with wise and learned Brothers that will ensure the future is bright for Wayfarer’s 50.

We have some important issues to tackle in the ensuing year and with your support we can achieve many great things. My focus is going to be on making good men Masons. Our membership has suffered some great losses over the last few years and we need to find the next generation of good men that will keep Wayfarer’s strong for years to come. The good news is that we are not desperate. We can attract and select quality men from across the Valley.

The lodge is also in need of some attention and I hope to present a plan to ensure the lodge is financially strong, while getting some much needed repairs completed. This will be a challenge, but with your support we can make this happen.

I look forward to the coming year, and hope to see you all there.

Fraternally

From the Junior Warden

Brothers and Friends,

I am always amazed at how time is so short. It feels like only yesterday I was appointed Senior Deacon and now I am ready to move to the West. Words cannot express how humbled I am to be allowed to serve this lodge and the Craft. The fact that I have been elected to serve continues to amaze me with each passing day. I am grateful for the confidence that Wayfarers shows in me and I have never had a higher honor then serving this lodge, for it has become more then my family… It is a way of life for me now.

To our outgoing Worshipful Master… WB George, you know how I feel about you and your family. We go back a long, long time and I am privileged that you have helped me along on this journey. I can think of no better person to have introduced me to the Craft, and I can think of no better mentor, and at times dare I say even a father figure when I need a kick in the pants. I can never repay you for the kindness you continue to show my family, nor can I repay you for the brotherly love you have shown me. I carry these gifts forward as my Masonic career continues to progress. Thank you!

To our incoming Worshipful Master… WB Doug, it has been a pleasure serving with you in the pedestals and I am greatly looking forward to this year. There are few people in Masonry that love their lodge as much as you do and it shows by how much you take care of it, and how you continue to want to do great things with us. Taking on a second year as Master is tall order, and you stepped to the plate without a second thought. It was, as always with you, for love of lodge. I know that we will move forward into next year, and I know that under your leadership we will continue to grow and be an example for other lodges in the state.

To all that assisted me with dinners and events… I can not thank you all for all of the same reasons as WB George stated above, but you know who you are, and you know how much I love and am grateful for all of the assistance I received putting together dinners, breakfasts, soda runs, whatever was needed. I hope that I have expressed to each of you who did help me how glad I am to have you in my corner.

With that, I look forward to next year, and I look forward to being a long time member of Wayfarers as I can think of no better place to volunteer my time and energy. The lodge has been good to me, I only hope that I can repay one day what the lodge has done.

Yours in the Craft,

Jason Michlowitz
Junior Warden
