Brothers and Friends,
Please forgive our digital hiccup which caused our tardiness in posting this announcement.
On 08 September of this year, our own WB Doug Steele was the surprise recipient of a rare and prestigious award. MW brother Bill Garrard attended our Stated Meeting and joined our Chaplain, Bro. Doug Robertson, in presenting to WB Steele, the “York Rite Sovereign College Gold Honor Awardâ€.
The Gold Honor Award may be given to any Mason for unselfish and faithful service in any branch of Masonry. While not unheard of, this award is rarely awarded to Masons outside of the York Rite body. Brother Doug Robertson nominated WB Steele for his consistent and selfless example of “what it means to be a Mason.†This award seems long overdue to anyone who knows Doug Steele. He’s just recently stepped down from six years as Associate Bethel Guardian for our Job’s Daughters Bethel. He’s a Past Worthy Patron of our chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and twice-Past Master of Wayfarers.
WB Doug Steele is the first to volunteer for ANY task he becomes aware of and works tirelessly to support and maintain our lodge. He’s always among the first to arrive and the last to leave our events and work days and regularly reaches out to our brothers in need. He’s always first to praise and congratulate others, promotes good will and counsels with kindness. I’m not alone in admitting openly that someday, I’d like to be the kind of Mason that Brother Doug Steele is every day.
Please join us in congratulating a good man and great Mason on this prestigious award.
